Such wonderful advice. I’m so glad I embarked on this art journey. I was worried I had waited too long, that I may not be strong enough. That I might be rejected. ALL OF IT WAS WRONG! I am way stronger than I thought. All I had to do was keep showing up. So I did, every morning at 4:30. Painted on the days I had to work a full time job, on the days I didn’t want to, on the days I didn’t feel good. Then I just put my work out there! Just do it, you might surprise yourself! #keepshowingup

Where does painting inspiration come from? For me it comes from life experiences. From the tiny snippets of life happening all around us. This painting titled, Flo-tea Goa-Tea came from spending time with my kids, see what I did there! lol Your children are never too old for the petting zoo! We visited @countrykingdompettingfarm and the @jacksonvillezoo two really awesome places here in Florida. You should get over there and see all the wonderful animals they have. I’m so glad I am inspired by the world around me. I hope you are too.

Van Build day! My son in law came over and helped me do a build out for my van. So grateful to have started, it should help with load out and in. We will modify as I use it. #vanbuild #vanlife

This painting was inspired by walks with my Good Boy Jesse. He is my wonderful studio mate. We always seem to catch the sunrise. I added some floral elements to the scene because he liked to stop and do all his sniffies. He turned 13 this year and his bones are getting stiff and sore. I am relishing every walk we have together. #stopandsmelltheroses #adogslife #myoldfriend #makingmemoriestogether

What does the art in your home say? Does it give you a good feeling? I like surrounding myself with wonderful experiences, things that make me appreciate the life that is happening all around. Me and @_presleyparker_ went to the @foyflorida so I could show her the friendly peacocks. They have peanuts you can feed them. I was coaxing one off of the fence when it happened! The pigeons picked me! I had no idea they would actually land on my hand and eat the peanuts! Ever since I was a kid I’ve loved animals, especially birds. I can usually get domesticated birds to trust me but I didn’t think wild ones would. It’s always the small things in life that amaze me. I’m so glad my eyes are open to it all. Thanks for sharing and capturing this special moment with me Presley!

First time ever getting my hair done in a salon!!! Can you even believe that?? Fun fact, my Mom was a hairdresser that didn’t get her license but she always did our hair at home. Once I got older I want to Cosmetology school so I never went to a salon. Always had someone that works with me cut and color it or I did it myself. I followed this beauty as long as I could, they are so hard for me to capture. I’m using one in a super secret painting project. They come here every year for a short time then they head back to South America after leaving Florida. They typically depart Florida in late summer, with migration continuing into August and September. Their final destinations include regions in Central and South America, where they spend the nonbreeding season. Do you know what kind of bird they are?

Isn’t it fun when inspiration hits you! I saw a post my friend Stephanie put up, of where she had gone to pick blueberries and snapped a photo. These blueberries speak of summer, childhood and just sweetness in general. Love everything about it. I was also really happy to reclaim a canvas that had a painting that wasn’t working on it. I never gesso over canvases. Part of that history can work with the next painting. This one is a perfect example of how well that works. #blueberries #summerfun #fruitart #wildflorida

I posted this video of alligators at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm a bit ago and it has been resonating with a lot of you. I go here regularly to take photos of the wading birds of Florida so that I can paint from my experience. There’s something so primal about these animals. I buy the press pass so that I can come an hour early in the golden hour. It ended up that me and one other person were here by ourselves. It was kind of eerie to hear these guys bellowing and feel the force of it all under my feet. It was so loud the sound was making the bridge I was on move with the vibration. When I paint the wildlife I’m not just painting an image I’m painting an experience. I’m painting the feeling and emotion of being there. I’m going to have to paint some more alligators. They really are the closest thing we have to dinosaurs!🦕🦖 🐊 @staugalligatorfarm today! #gators #everglades #floridalife @friendsoftheeverglades #wildlifeartist
